Crystal M.'s Story

Went to Charles Dickens Elementary School and Audubon Jr. High School Then the best school EVER!! John Adams Sr. High School! Met the best Rebels in the world! Went to Xavier University, Dyke College, and worked at Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, and Snickerfritz Black Art Gallery (all in Ohio). Moved to Houston, TX in 1982, met a football player who played for the New York Giants, fell in lust, and had my first daughter in 1986. This is the year I really became a woman. After 1986 -- worked some more, and went to school some more. I have worked in the fields of Oil & Gas (Chemicals and Explosives), Banking and Finance, Real Estate, Marketing & Public Relations, Broadcasting (TV & Radio), Entertainment, Special Events Planning, Political Involvement. Received my undergraduate degree in Marketing in 1994, and I think that covers it. I think?! My first job was during the summer work program, and I was 14 years old. I was an English tutor and teacher's assistant making $2.10 per hour. I was lucky because I did not have to work outside! I had the great opportunity of working at the Buckeye/Woodland Community Congress for a few summers, and that is where I picked up my deep desire to help people in the community and got involved in small-time politics. I remember riding my bike to work everyday! Some of the highlights of me being here in Houston, TX are: --Owning and operating my own modeling...Expand for more
agency with 32 models and staff, and being a full-figure model for about 10 years. --Working in TV & Radio covering the first few years of the WNBA, and talk show host for "Sports Woman Today" --Meeting President George W. Bush (then Governor of Texas) in 1996 --Meeting President Bill Clinton in 2000, through political fundraisers for the Democratic Party; also met senators, congressmen, and world diplomats --Being promoted to District Manager of a national tax company covering 13 locations and 100+ employees; my desire was to empower people and to help them grow within themselves. --Helping others to make millions of dollars --Working in church in Global Missions and Evangelism Now it is time for me. It is time for me to realize my life-long dream of becoming an attorney. Back in school full-time majoring in Criminal Justice / minor in Political Science (pre-law). Honor student in school, but struggling in life trying to handle it all. It is a little tough being 47 in school with a bunch of 18-22 year olds! Had 2 beautiful daughters -- one in 1986 and one in 1998. My two daughters will be going to Africa to live for a few years while I finish up school. Close to getting married 3 times, but I got scared and ran. I do wonder how two old beaus are doing: Mark Smith (jr. high); Jerome Germany (high school -- he started with us but went on to John F. Kennedy) -- I would have married either one of them!
